It's time for the big game!! Howabout you try something new on your party table, some easy to make and crazy delicious Sausage and Shrimp Soup made with Down Home Meats Brand Smoked Sausage!

Here's the recipe!

Shrimp And Sausage Soup

1 tbls butter
1 medium onion - diced
4 cloves garlic – minced
12 cups (2-6 cup containers) chicken broth
12 cups water
2 ½ lbs potatoes – diced
3 lbs Down Home Brand Smoked Sausage – cut into bite sized pieces
½ medium head of cabbage – roughly chopped
5 ears of corn – cut into little coblets (Is that a word?)
2 tbls dried parsley
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 lbs peeled and deveined shrimp
Salt and pepper to taste

On medium heat, melt the butter in your pot, and put in the onions. Let them cook for a few seconds giving them a stir, then put in the garlic. Add a little salt and pepper and stir. Pour in the chicken broth and the water. Next, pour in the diced potatoes, and turn up the heat to medium high.

While the soup base is heating, split the sausage lengthwise, and then cut it up into bite sized pieces, and add it to the pot. Add in the cabbage and stir. While the soup is coming up to a boil, cut the corn cobs into smaller little coblets (I still don’t know if that’s a word) using a towel to cover the back of the knife and giving it a good whack with the palm of your hand. Put the corn in the soup and stir.

Add in the dried parsley and cayenne pepper. Cover, and reduce heat to medium, and cook for 20 minutes. Check for seasoning and add more salt and pepper if it is needed.

The last thing you pour in is the shrimp. Cook on medium another 8-10 minutes and that’s it!

Serve with crackers, crusty bread, corn bread, or whatever you like.

SOUP’S ON!!!
