MTV has decided to pull the plug on its reality series "Buckwild."

Sources told TMZ that the network decided to halt production midway into the show's second season.

"Buckwild" followed the adventures of several young people in rural West Virginia, including Shain Gandee, who died last week of carbon monoxide poisoning after the vehicle he was in became stuck in mud during an off-road venture.

MTV gave no reason for the cancellation, but said an official announcement will be released Wednesday morning.
