When this season's schedule was announced, many fans circled this past weekend on their calendar.

For good reason, after all, it's not every week that our hometown Mudbugs have four home games. However, that's just what we had this past week and weekend. The 'Bugs played host to the New Mexico Ice Wolves for three straight nights. Due to COVID-19, the Ice Wolves have to play their home games on the road, so even though Thursday night's game was played at George's Pond, we were technically the away team. This was a fun development for the team because it allowed the 'Bugs to wear their colors on home ice, opposed to their usual white home uniforms. The 'Bugs performed well to take home the victory as the visiting team on home ice, winning 4-1.

However, things took a rare turn Friday night as the Ice Wolves were able to knock off the Mudbugs convincingly, winning 5-1. I can't think of the last time the 'Bugs lost like that at home. It was their first regular-season loss at George's Pond this season.

Saturday night, the Shreveport Mudbugs were looking for payback, and they delivered, winning 5-2. The impressive five-goal showing spelled S-O-N-I-C and every fan received their free Sonic Route 44.

After a quick break Sunday, the 'Bugs took the ice on a rare Monday afternoon to take on the Wichita Falls Warriors. Unfortunately, the 'Bugs were a little out of whack all afternoon, eventually losing to the Warriors 3-2 in overtime.

The Shreveport Mudbugs will travel to Lone Star this upcoming weekend but will wrap up the month of January with two home games on January 29th and 30th.
