Northwest Louisiana Haunted Tales: The Railroad Tracks at Forbing

Many have seen a strange figure wandering the railroad tracks in Forbing.

The railroad tracks that run through Forbing never bring good news. One cold and foggy night, a train struck a man who had wandered too close to the tracks. People say the train took his life, but for his body, the train took his head.

At night visitors can hear the body of the man walking the tracks searching for his lost head. The only thing they can see however, is the low glow of his lantern.

In another accident, a bus full of children was struck by a passing train on those same tracks. There were no survivors.

Many believe that the death of a child yields a guardian angel.

Legend has it, those stuck in their car on the tracks, will be pushed to safety by the undead souls of the children. Tiny hand prints reveal an act of tiny ghosts saving others from the same horrid fate they suffered.
