Being president has to be one of the most stressful life consuming jobs out there but what about after... Being an Ex President is the best! Once you're elected president you're a government employee for life. This means annual salary now around $200,000, health care, paid official travel and an office along with Secret Service for you and your family for life.

Now a free office might not sound to crazy at first but lets look at how much is paid each year. Jimmy Carter's Atlanta office is $102,000 per year, George H. W. Bush's Houston office costs $175,000 per year, President Bill Clinton's office in New York City is $516,000.

Now you might be wondering why an ex president might need an office. I'm sure it's different for everyone of them but usually writing books and preparing paid speeches.

Writing books can bring a lot of money to an ex president! Just look at "My Life" which gave Bill Clinton a $15 million advance. And then George W. Bush earned $7 million for the first 1.5 million copies of "Decision Points." Obama will surely write a book now that he's got more free time.

"I've never had any money until I got out of the White House," Clinton told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in 2010. "But I've done reasonably well since then."

Bill Clinton does many speeches a year where he averages $125,000 each time he takes the stage. Since 2001, he's earned $75.6 million giving speeches to corporations and organizations around the world according to the Clintons tax records. George W. Bush has made $15 million from speeches since leaving office.

Being an ex president is a pretty sweet gig!
