It's time for the Louisiana High School Athletic Association football playoffs. A time of year that brings a lot of excitement (and honestly a lot of confusion in how the playoffs actually work) for coaches, kids, and parents.

For local teams, there's a good supply of home games in our area. Now "local" can mean a lot, and we might stretch it a little, and we might miss a few, but based on what we pulled this afternoon, there's at least a dozen home games in the first round of the playoffs. Here are the teams who will be hosting games in our area:

Evangel Christian vs. Archbishop Shaw
Loyola Prep vs. St. Louis
Calvary Baptist vs. Pop John Paul II
Captain Shreve vs. St. Amant
Haughton vs. Fontaineblea
Benton vs. Tioga
Northwood - Shrev vs. South Terrebonne
North DeSoto vs. Helen Cox
North Webster vs. Albany
Green Oaks vs. Wossman
Many vs. Ville Platte
Mansfield vs. South Plaquemines
Red River vs. Franklin

The teams from our area that made the playoffs, but won't be hosting a game in the first round include:

Parkway at Ouachita Parish
Minden at Edna Karr
Woodlawn - Shrev at Leesville
North Caddo at Rayville
Plain Dealing at Montgomery

There were some area teams who made the playoffs, and earned a first round bye. Those teams include:

Logansport
Haynesville
Byrd
