Shreveport/Bossier Fireworks Sales Start Soon
The Fourth of July is right around the corner and that means it’s time again for fireworks.
They go on sale at noon Wednesday in Shreveport but they don’t go on sale in Bossier City until 10 o’clock Saturday morning. On both sides of the river they can only be legally discharged between 10am and 10pm each day through July 5th. Anybody caught discharging fireworks outside of those hours will be subject to a fine of up to $500 and even the possibility of some jail time.
As always, local police and fire departments are urging safety when using fireworks. Some simple rules should always be followed:
Always purchase fireworks from a reputable retail outlet
Read and follow all warnings and instructions
Never shoot off fireworks indoors
Young children should always have adult supervision when using fireworks
Bottle rockets and other “stick” type fireworks are prohibited
When using aerial fireworks, always make sure there are no overhead obstructions
Use “punk” rather than an open flame to ignite fireworks
Never shoot, aim, or throw fireworks at people or animals
Keep a garden hose or bucket of water handy — just in case.
Never try to re-ignite fireworks that have malfunctioned. Douse them in water and wait 15 minutes before properly disposing of them
Never ignite fireworks on or near dry vegetation
All of us at NewsRadio 710 KEEL want you to have a happy but safe Fourth of July.
