After a government audit soldiers in California are having to repay thousands of dollars to the government from "overpaid" signing bonuses. Over 10,000 soldiers/veterans are being effected by this and many having to take out loans to cover the bill.

"These bonuses were used to keep people in," told Christopher Van Meter to ABC News, a 42-year-old former Army captain and Iraq veteran who was awarded a Purple Heart. "People like me just got screwed." Van Meter is having to refinance his house to repay his bonus of $25,000 and $21,000 student loans.

We talked about this on the show this morning and had callers calling in saying that this has been seen in Louisiana as well from Barksdale vets. One caller said her husband didn't qualify for disability after being discharged due to the fact that he had received a bonus.

This is a betrayal to our military vets and honestly sickening to see happen to those who sacrificed their lives to protect our freedoms!
