Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is available on Netflix.  I can't stress this point enough, I really don't like the Gilmore Girls.  I dislike the characters, the pacing, and the dialog.  The dialog, my lord, the dialog.  It's about 10X faster than real life, but that's beside the point.

That being said, I am surrounded by people I respect that love it.  I mean, get a tattoo of  Stars Hollow city limit sign in l-o-v-e with the show.  This group of people includes my sister-in-law Melanie, several co-workers (like Jay Whatley), and most importantly - my beautiful wife Tracy. That's why I left it up to her.  Tracy cares about the show in a way that would help any true fan decide to binge-watch or not to binge-watch.

According to the above expert, the first part of the Netflix powered Gilmore Girls reunion is everything a true fan could hope for!  She's still walking around the house singing "Where You Lead Me."  The characters just pick up right where they left off.  The sets, the wardrobe, the actors (except for Melissa McCarthy, Edward Herman, and Wayne Wilcox - a.k.a. Marty the Naked Guy), and the plot points - are all nearly identical.

The only real differences are these:

1. The modern references.  Rory, Lorelei, and the crew now add off hand zingers about Google, Instagram, Facebook and other additions to modern day life that have transformed society in the last 10 years.

2.  Rory is all grown up.  Rory has big girl issues now, as in issues she didn't have in the original show.  She has a boyfriend at home and a man in London.  This is mos-def not the Rory we grew up with.

3. The Length.  Instead of being 1 hour with commercials (around 40 minutes), it is now 90 minutes without commercials.  That's great (if you love this show)!

There was apparently a cameo by Rachel Ray, and that's all I got before Tracy locked her self in the bedroom.  I'll bring her drinks and encourage bathroom breaks until the binge has passed. This is crazy, I've never been this in love with a show!
