Authorities report that the five-year-old son of of Grammy-winning singer Usher nearly drowned in an Atlanta pool Tuesday.

Atlanta police department spokesman Carlos Campos said that Usher Raymond V apparently fell to the bottom of a pool in the downtown area and became stuck in a drain.

Two workmen who were on the grounds of the house where the pool was located were able to rescue the boy after a housekeeper tried but failed to pull him out of the drain, said Campos.

Campos went on to say that the boy was, "conscious, alert and breathing" when paramedics arrived to transport him to a nearby hospital.

This latest incident comes almost a year after the son of his ex-wife, Kile Glover, died after being critically injured in an accident where he was run over by a personal water craft on a lake near Atlanta.
