As a woman in my 40s, I'm just now realizing I should have been taking better care of myself way earlier in life. However, there are some great products out there that women in Shreveport-Bossier swear by and I'm here to share their secrets!

While I was taking a few days off to spend time with my girls a few weeks ago, we got to talking about the products that we're using right now, what's working, and what's not. After all, there are a ton of products out there that you can waste a LOT of money on trying out blindly. Of course, we were in the middle of a glorious spa day, so our conversation naturally went to ways to combat aging. Here are the two products my friends are raving about and one that I discovered back in January that I swear by myself.

A/G Pro - A/G Pro is an amino acid nutritional supplement from Miller Pharmacal Group. My friend Stacy started taking this several months ago when she realized her hair was starting to thin. Mine has been doing the same so I decided to give it a try. It's available on Amazon for $20.40. I started taking A/G Pro on May 24th, just about a week ago. While I'm still losing hair in the shower and in my brush, I've noticed new hair growth around my hairline. The reviews also say it's great for your nails! However, don't take my word for it. You should always talk to a medical professional before taking any kind of supplement.

BioCell Collagen - BioCell Collagen is a drinkable Collagen supplement from BioCell Technology designed to increase the skin's elasticity and prevent aging. I haven't quite decided to pull the trigger on purchasing this yet because I have to pick and choose where I spend my money, but my friend Stacy has ordered it and I can't wait to see her results. She's a beautiful woman in her 50s, but like me, she was late to the party when it comes to treatments like this. We both figured washing our face and occasionally moisturizing would do the trick... Sure, maybe when you're in your 20s!  You can purchase BioCell Collagen locally and learn more by reaching out to Esthetician Tracey Justice at Royal Salon and Spa in Shreveport. Once again, you should always talk to a medical professional before taking any kind of supplement.

Xeomin - If you're interested in injectables to help fine lines and wrinkles, have you checked out Xeomin as opposed to Botox? It's basically the same thing, without the additives. In my non-medical professional way, the only way I know to explain it is that in essence, they're both similar drugs, but Xeomin is 'naked,' where the formulation of Botox includes various protective proteins clustered around the active molecule. While both boast similar results, Xeomin tends to be cheaper, act faster, and lasts longer than Botox. I started Xeomin injections in January and refreshed them a little over a week ago if that tells you how long the injections last. I did have a little swelling around one of the injection sites, but nothing major. In all, I had 32 units that cost me $270 with a $50 Xeomin rebate. That took care of the 'eleven' between my brows, a brow lift, the wrinkles on my forehead, and my crow's feet. Not too shabby, if you ask me! You can find Xeomin locally at Premier Medicine on Shed Road in Bossier City. They also have another version of the BioCell supplement I mentioned above.

I hope this helps you in your own personal battle against aging. I know some folks frown on expensive treatments and procedures, but honestly, I think we all have earned the right to face aging on our own terms. OWN IT and GOOD LUCK!
