There will be fireworks in Longview on the 4th of July after all.

The City Of Longview announced yesterday that the fireworks and festival portions of the annual Fireworks and Freedom Celebration were both being cancelled over public health concerns along with the cost of producing a fireworks show. However, thanks to generous donors, the fireworks portion of the event will go on as scheduled.

This years' show will be a drive-in style fireworks show. Attendees will remain at their vehicles and additional social distancing and hygiene precautions will be taken. Longview Mayor Andy Mack had this to say about the show and the donors,

This week we made the difficult, but correct decision to cancel the Fireworks and Freedom Celebration. With our City sales tax revenues projected to be down millions, we could not justify spending a significant amount of tax payer dollars on entertainment. We are overjoyed that sponsors stepped up and are allowing us to continue with our annual fireworks show. Longview is one of the most patriotic cities I know, and we are delighted to provide this community celebration!"

Get ready to show your pride for the USA this July 4th in Longview with the annual Fireworks and Freedom Celebration - fireworks show.
