50 Cent Can Turn The Tables and Save Shreveport From Bad Movies
A lot of movies have been filmed in Shreveport, and more than a few of them are regarded as bad or poorly rated. 64 of the 164 movies filmed, at least in part, in Shreveport have an IMDB rating under 6 out of 10 stars. In the last year, there have been a lot of rumors and speculation around 50 Cent and his new Shreveport-based film studio, Millenium Studios. Could 50 Cent save Shreveport from bad movies?

Shreveport Has a History With Bad Movies
It all started in 1976 with Joy N. Houck Jr.'s Creature from Black Lake, a bigfoot-style horror movie that did not do well with critics upon release. The movie was filmed in and around Shreveport and premiered in the city in 1976. Since then countless movies have been filmed right here in Shreveport that received negative attention from critics, like the 1.9-star-rated Disaster Movie from 2008 or the 3.3-star-rated Teen Vamp from 1989.
Shreveport Wears The Scar of The Worst Movie Ever
Earlier I brought up 2008's Disaster Movie which without a doubt was a disaster at the box office and in critic's reviews. Disaster Movie has the unique honor of being one of the worst movies ever made. Since then no movie filmed in Shreveport has gotten lower review scores but several movies with scores as low as 2.4 out of 10 stars have been filmed in Shreveport since then.
Over half of all movies filmed in Shreveport have had bad reviews, but with 50 Cent bringing Millenium Studios to Shreveport could we see an of Shreveport's bad movie curse? Here's to hoping that if 50 Cent's music can win awards, maybe his movies can too.
