A Much Needed Geek Vacation On The Way For July In Alabama
As we start to understand more about what it takes to stay safe in a pandemic, we've seen more and more businesses and venues be able to open safely. This has allowed for people to resume some normal aspects of life, including vacations.
I just recently took a family trip to Michigan, and had a great time all the way across the country. Each state had their own set of precautions, and some of the areas were so advanced in their response, they were wide-open for business.
If you're looking for a much needed family vacation, there's an event coming up next month in Huntsville, Alabama that might be just what you need.
The Huntsville Comic and Pop Culture Expo is on schedule for July 18th-19th at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The Expo is working hard to provide a safe and exciting opportunity for fans who need some hope right now. The show is a comic con style event loaded with special guests. Stars from Power Rangers, WWE, Star Wars, and even Tiger King are set to attend, but more on that later.
One of the first questions many will ask is about safety precautions. The Huntsville Comic and Pop Culture Expo is way ahead on that. They've posted that they are following every State and local guideline, and in addition to that, they have their own guidelines they've put together with the venue. Here are the safety guidelines they've posted on their social media:
Covid-19 Safety Guidelines:
We want you all to know we are doing everything we can to keep everyone as safe as possible. We are adhering to all guidelines set by the state as well as additional guidelines given to us by the VBC. This is going to be a long post but please read it all and know that we may add to this if new regulations come down.
-Please, please, please wear a mask. The masks are to keep everyone safe. It's not a political thing, its a science thing.
-If you are not well or have been sick please do not come. If you can't live without a certain autograph from someone please contact us and we will make it happen.
-We will have hand sanitizer stations throughout the building so please use them.
-Our aisles will be larger than normal to allow plenty of room for people to walk around but please do not stop in the aisles to talk. We know the Expo is a great time to see friends you haven't seen in a long time but please find a spot away from everyone to go chat and catch up.
-Social Distance as best you can. We will have over 100,000 square feet of space so please space yourselves out as best you can.
-Please be patient, with everyone. Know that this is a strange weird situation and everyone is doing their best to make it as great as possible.

Slaughter, legendary voice actor Billy West, original Power Rangers Austin St. John and Walter Jones, Star Wars actors Dickey Beer (Boba Fett), John Morton (Boba Fett, Dak Ralter), and David Ankrum (Wedge Antilles).
This will also be one of the first opportunities for fans to meet stars from the viral sensation Tiger King. John Reinke and Saff will both be attending the event.

Hunstville is a close enough drive from the Ark-La-Tex for a very manageable "long-weekend" vacation. Which is very needed for some right now.
