Shreveport is always buzzing, but now it's more than the great food and amazing events, with the undeniable hum of a revitalized film industry coming back. Act 44 was recently passed in Louisiana, and with it comes a new era of prosperity for Shreveport as the city will soon be able to reclaim the title of "Hollywood South."

Act 44, Louisiana's Green Light for Unlimited Film Growth

Act 44 makes some big changes to how Louisiana's film production credits work. The state no longer has per-project and per-person spending caps. Now, productions basically don't have a limit as to how many tax credits can be awarded to the film. Louisiana will have a firm place at the top of most filming location lists because of the benefits provided, and of all cities in the state, Shreveport has always had a prime location for filming, just look at the list of movies filmed in the city.

Shreveport's Star Power: 50 Cent Takes Stage

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has already staked a claim in Shreveport to build his movie empire with G-Unit Studios. The former StageWorks building in Shreveport has already been leased out to 50 Cent to renovate into a fully-fledged production studio. G-Unit's presence in the city has already given Shreveport a taste of what's to come with 2024's Humor and Harmony festival, put on by 50 Cent and his studio.

Once G-Unit hits the ground rolling with filming, Shreveport can expect to see an influx of revenue, bringing new jobs to the town as well as bringing in actors to film in the city. Beyond recreating Shreveport's glory days as "Hollywood South," 50 Cent has shown his dedication to the community with the G-Unity Foundation, contributing to the community with its Business Lab program for youth.
