Asteroid Larger Than the Cajundome to Fly By Earth This Weekend
Let's see, we are in the middle of a pandemic, riots from coast to coast, killer hornets are now in the country, a tropical storm is due in Acadiana as early as Sunday and Saturday an asteroid larger than the Cajundome will fly by Earth. Do you think someone or something is trying to send us a message?
Luckily, the asteroid will miss the Earth by a little over 3 million miles but according to NASA, that's relatively close. The experts at NASA call these type events, 'close approaches'.
If you're wondering the name of the nice asteroid that has no intention of hurting us, it's 163348 (2002 NN4).
NASA has developed an Asteroid Watch Widget that,
"Tracks asteroids and comets that will make relatively close approaches to Earth."
Astronomers around the world keep a close eye on these things. The experts are reminding us to relax, we have nothing to worry about...this time.
