After last week’s performance on ‘Duets,’ Jordan Meredith needed to prove that she had some swagger to go with her voice. After an unbelievably fun performance of Miranda Lambert’s ‘Mama’s Broken Heart,’ she definitely changed her fate on the show.

Joshua Ledet kicked off his ‘American Idol’ double header with the winning song by his personal idol and ‘Idol’ alum, Fantasia. He made believers out of all of us with an inspiring performance of ‘I Believe.’ And he couldn’t have matched it any better with is second round performance.

It was double songs all the way on ‘American Idol’ and who better to sing a double than the guy with a double name? Phillip Phillips started his “final seven” battle with some delicious ‘You Got It Bad’ by Usher. And now we’ve all got it bad, and can’t wait for our chance to meet up with Phillips in the midnight hour after his ‘In the Midnight Hour.’

Boy bands are back. With One Direction’s much buzzed-about performance on ‘Saturday Night Live‘ last weekend and the new hotness of The Wanted, the boy band is definitely a thing again. But before we get too excited, let us not forget where they came from. Is the return of the boy band a good thing?

The adorable sweetness that is ‘American Idol”s Hollie Cavanagh sang a little Pink in a little pink dress; and while she looked perfect and sang ‘Perfect,’ as it turns out, she did not have a perfect performance. Does this mean Cavanagh will be in the bottom three again this week?

Colton Dixon continued what Randy Jackson referred to as “one of the hottest shows yet” with a delightfully Colton-esque performance of Skylar Grey’s ‘Love the Way You Lie’ on ‘American Idol.’ And it’s no lie to say the judges ate it up.
