It's once again Halloween season, and if you're looking for spooky movies to enjoy, Shreveport has produced a lot. But they're not all slasher movies, some are more psychological in nature. Which is good, because not everyone loves a gory blood-filled slasher...but everyone deserves to have a spooky movie for the Halloween season.

So our list will include both bloody slashers, and teen-level spooky movies.

Why Did Shreveport Make So Many Scary Movies?

Looking back, it’s amazing how many of those productions were...well, spooky. Our area became a go-to spot for horror, dark thrillers, and suspense.

Why? Well, honestly, horror movies are big business. They may not have a $200 million budget like a superhero flick, but that's the point. They often cost less to make and can turn a huge profit.

Just look at the TV side. Two of the biggest dark-themed shows ever, True Blood and Salem, were filmed in the Shreveport area. That dark, moody, Southern Gothic vibe? Louisiana has got it.
