On Feb. 11, the entertainment world lost an icon, but Whitney Houston‘s immediate family lost their beloved sister and mother. The one and only Oprah Winfrey nabbed the first sit down with the late, great singer’s only daughter, Bobbi Kristina, who turned 19 on March 4.

Oprah also spoke with Houston’s brother Gary and sister-in-law Patricia, the latter of whom served as her manager. The interview special airs Sunday, March 11, exactly one month after Houston’s tragic death, as an ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ episode on OWN.

While Oprah managed the unthinkable — an exclusive chat with the family so soon after the loss — there is a reason that Bobbi Kris and company agreed to allow Oprah into their homes and hearts. Put simply: They trust her and she was one of the first people to reach out to the family to offer support upon hearing of Whit’s death.

The Houston family has readily admitted that it sold footage of the funeral for the financial benefit of Whitney’s sole heir, prompting speculation that the singer was in financial ruin at the time of her death and left nothing in the way of inheritance to her child. However, TMZ reports that Bobbi Kristina is not conducting the interview because she is getting/was paid — but it’s actually not clear if she is being compensated for agreeing to chat with Oprah.

However, what is known is the fact that BK trusts and respects family friend Oprah and wants to set the record straight, share memories of her mom and address the rumors surrounding her passing. Bobbi Kris reportedly told friends that Oprah “was loyal to my mom, and never did my mother wrong, or made her look bad. She always looked out for my mom.” In turn, BK feels that the talk show host would treat her with similar respect and not bring up rumors about the teen’s own reported drug use.

Tune in to OWN on March 11 at 9PM to hear from Bobbi Kristina, Gary and Patricia about the loss of the woman they loved.
