Bossier Beer Run: East Bank 5k & Mile Event

The running community is quickly growing in the Ark-La-Tex. I remember the first time I spotted a runners club in downtown Shreveport, I was so excited that we are doing "big city things" in the Ark-La-Tex. Several Shreveport runners have had to get used to driving to cities like Dallas just to be able to run a 5K, however, we are seeing a surge in 5K's in Shreveport-Bossier.

The 2nd Annual East Bank 5k Run and Team Beer Mile takes over Bossier's East Bank on Saturday, April 11th. The run gets started at Beauxjax Crafthouse at 9:00 a.m., and the Team Beer Mile gets going at 11:00 a.m. If you're like me and not familiar with a Team Beer Mile, it's simple: Runners drink a 12-ounce beer before each of the four laps of a one-mile run. Your team consists of you and your favorite drinking buddy. Can you chug a beer and run? There is only one way to find out. There will also be love music from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Why Is the East Bank 5k Run and Team Beer Mile Important to Shreveport-Bossier?

Proceeds will go toward Community Renewal International. Community Renewal focuses on building caring relationships to revitalize our neighborhoods. These programs foster community connection and support. I have been fortunate enough to volunteer at one of our Shreveport Friendship Houses, and seeing the love that these programs pour into our youth is so encouraging. However, the reality is that funds need to be raised to continue this wonderful mission.
