Bossier City Police Keep Man From Leaping To His Death
Earlier this morning, Bossier City Police responded to a call of a man with a knife threatening to jump to his death from the Texas Street Bridge - according to KSLA.
When the BCPD showed up, they found a car parked on the bridge, and a distraught man threatening to leap to his death. Not only did police calmly address the man, who at this time remains unnamed, but they were able to control the situation around the bridge pretty easily. I saw this traffic jam, but had no idea that a few hundred feet from where we detoured - the hostage negotiations team was talking him into throwing away his knife and surrendering peacefully. Whats more, the police will not be charging him with any crime, and he is currently getting the help he needs.
This was a high 5 all of the way around. With all of the negative stories of civilian/police interactions going haywire, it was nice to see this go the right way. If you or anyone you know is thinking about suicide, please call 877-994-2275.
