This summer, the Bossier Maximum Security Facility in Plain Dealing will get a million dollar face-lift.  The 140,000 square foot detention center will be upgrading the security equipment used to monitor inmates with a very sophisticated and advanced system.  New cameras, monitors, electronic locks, and security software, and more will be installed to help officers in charge of watching the "residents," staying there.

Security Today is reporting that the upgrade isn't in response to a particular issue, but rather to keep the facility on the cutting edge of safety for the inmates and the officers guarding them.  Bossier Max officials say that they have never had a major security issue, and they'd like to keep it that way.

No specific date has been mentioned for completion of the upgrade.  However, the new systems should be up and running by the end of this summer.
