The Byrd Yellow Jackets are playing for a state championship tonight (December 12) in New Orleans, and fans are showing their support by tagging their Instagram photos with the #StingEm hashtag.

The Yellow Jackets are playing for the Division I State Championship tonight at 8:30 p.m. This is unusual for Byrd, who would normally play for the 5A State Championship. But with an LHSAA ruling in the off season, the Yellow Jackets were forced to play in the same division with the likes of Shreveport's private schools.

Despite the change, this was no setback for the Jackets, who finished the regular season with a 9-1 record. Their only loss was from the Parkway Panthers, who are also playing for the 5A State Championship on Saturday, Dec. 14.
