The smoking ban for Shreveport's 2 casinos is set to go into effect on August 1. The ban was passed one year ago, but implementation was delayed until this year to give the casinos time to put the changes in place.

This smoking ban also includes all bars and nightclubs in the city of Shreveport.
Smokers at El Dorado and Sam's Town Casino will now have to step outside to light up. Both casinos will likely set up smoking areas that are convenient to gamblers. The casinos in Bossier City are not impacted by this ban.

This ordinance prohibits smoking of any kind in any park or playground, as well as bars and casinos.

There is some concern that this ban in Shreveport could impact some jobs.

Whether you’re a teacher, bartender, or card dealer, no employee in Shreveport should have to be exposed to deadly secondhand smoke every second of their work shift.

Randy Hayden with the Smoke-Free Coalition of Louisiana says this is a major step forward for our area. He says Shreveport is now the 30 city in the state to ban smoking in all businesses.
