Every week, Chica & the Bald Guy search the Shreveport/Bossier City area (commonly referred to as the SBC) for your favorite teacher. Every single person who chooses the teaching lifestyle does so knowing that they will most likely never get rich for it. The fearless men and women that face a class full (or more) of our kids day in and day out deserve much more than they get - especially now.

Teachers had to find some way to continue teaching our (and their own) kids, and they did it. Without knowing how, they figured it out. That is a bonafide miracle when you consider that a lot of us can't wrap our heads around it enough to help them! Now that classes are back in session, and adding distance learning to the mix - we're asking more from these teachers than ever.  That's why it's more important that ever that we recognize their passion and dedication.

It is in that spirit that we seek to recognize one educator a week who goes above and beyond the call of duty for her students! This week, the exemplary person we are recognizing as The Chica & The Bald Guy Teacher of the Week is North Caddo Elementary/Middle School Kindergarten teacher Courtney Townsend!

Courtney was nominated by her co-worker and friend Tina Weindel. Tina has seen this incredible educator handle her kindergarten class with caring and unwavering dedication.  Here's what she had say about Mrs. Townsend:

Mrs. Townsend is co-worker and a kindergarten teacher. I have had the pleasure of working with her in the classroom as her paraprofessional a few times over the years.
She is wonderful with her students. She is so organized with them, yet knows how to give each student the personal attention they need. You can tell she truly enjoys being their teacher. If I still had small children, I would want her to be their teacher.
Her kindergarten students learn so much in their school year with her. She gets them off to a great start day one of school. It doesn't take long for the kids to know their morning routine with Mrs. Townsend. The growth her students have in their year of kindergarten with her is a joy to watch.
She is a kind, caring, and organized teacher. And that is why I am choosing her as my favorite teacher.
