Despite Rise Louisiana Still has Lowest Gas Prices in Nation

One of the silver linings of the COVID-19 pandemic has been the fact that fuel prices across the state have been unusually low. Of course, in the oil patch, that's a double-edged sword. Sure, it's nice to only pay a dollar and some change for a gallon of gas, but with oil prices in the dumper that means a lot of our local people are furloughed or laid off from their jobs in the oil and gas industry.

Gas prices across the nation have seen a bit of a rebound here lately. The two weeks have seen an increase of about.11 cents on average across the nation. This uptick in price has put the average cost for a gallon of regular gas at $2.16 a gallon.

The highest price for fuel in the country is in Honolulu Hawaii where motorists are paying $3.03 for a gallon of regular. Meanwhile, the lowest price per gallon was listed at $1.69 and that price could be found in Baton Rouge.

Locally, you can find gas for $1.59 per gallon at the Excel at Kingston Road and Bert Kouns and at the Fast Lane on Monkhouse Drive. The lowest price in Bossier according to Gas Buddy was $1.60 per gallon at Sam's Club on Beene Boulevard.

For those of you who drive diesel-powered vehicles your cost for fuel has remained rather steady for the past two weeks. The average cost for a gallon of diesel was steady at $2.55.
