Did You Receive Your Frontline Worker Check?
According to the state, 69,000 frontline workers in Louisiana have received their check. Have you?
It goes without saying that frontline workers are beyond worthy of our praise and appreciation. Here in Shreveport-Bossier, we have an incredibly large of frontline workers. In fact, chances are if you're reading this, you're either a frontline worker or you know someone who is. Frontline workers of all shapes and sizes have my up-most respect. While our nation was literally shutting down and our lives were changing by the second, these workers continued to clock in and go to work.
Those who qualify are essentially anyone who had to continue working day in and day out during Governor John Bel Edwards' initial stay-at-home order. 240,000 Louisianians applied to receive this $250 frontline worker check. Of that group, the largest amount of applicants came from those who work at a grocery store. In fact, 23% of applications came from grocery store employees. Home health and healthcare workers are the second biggest category after grocery store workers.
This week, the state will be mailing out letters to many Louisianians who submitted their application with errors. If that's you, you'll need to fix the mistakes quickly and re-submit in order to receive your check. So far, $17 million in payments have gone out and the program still has $23 million available dollars.
If you're a frontline worker who may qualify to receive your check, you can still apply, essentially until the money runs out. You can submit your application at frontlineworkers.la.gov.
