August 28, 1963.  Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered a speech at the National Mall in Washington D.C.  Over a quarter of a million people showed up to show their support of unity and the destruction of racial divides in this country.  Tons of community leaders, celebrities, politicians, and hundreds of thousands of people who were tired of the damage racism was doing to our country.

In a time where hope was in short supply, The Rev was swimming in the stuff.  When he belted out -  "I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin but by the content of their character," It awakened our national morality in a way that put us all on a better path.  According to CNN, over 130 scholars got together in 1999 to vote on the best speech of the 20th Century - and MLK's "I Have A Dream" Speech beat out JFK's "Ask Not What Your Country Can Do For You" speech and FDR's "The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself."  That's some tough competition.

We've still got a ways to go, but make sure you think about how far we have come, not only for the memorable speech of this remarkable man, but for his amazing life that serves as a fantastic example on how to view your fellow man.
