Regardless of where you stand on the late Edwin Edwards and his political career, you have to respect his way with words.

I'll be honest here, I'm just now getting caught up on the man they call the Silver Fox. Former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards passed away earlier this week at the age of 93. Since, social media has been flooded with legendary stories about the politician and former federal prison inmate.

Naturally, I was curious. Who was this man? What did he stand for? What made him so special and memorable? Quickly, I realized that I might be dealing with the most interesting politician we've ever seen... Including our former president.

Edwin Edwards a lifelong democrat, who served as a member of congress representing Louisiana from 1965 to 1972. From there, he went on to be Louisiana's 50th governor in 1972. He was governor of our great state for four terms, from 1972-1980, 1984-1988, and 1992-1996. In total, Edwards spent 16 years as our governor, which is impressive considering only five other governors in our nation's history have more gubernatorial service.

Edwards spent eight years in a federal prison for charges related to corruption. He was in behind bars from October 2002 until January 2011.

He was sent to hospice care earlier this month after feeling pain in his lungs. He died six days later on July 12th at the age of 93.

Naturally, since his passing earlier this week, I have learned a lot about our former governor. Today, I wanted to share a nice handful of his truly iconic quotes through the years.
