The Best Valentine’s Dinner Spot for the Food Lover in Shreveport
One thing that Shreveport is not in short supply of is damn good food. It's no surprise that we have weeks dedicated to the fabulous food that Shreveport puts out daily. Because of the fact that we have such great places to eat in Shreveport, I never shy away from visiting a new spot.
Fat Calf Brasserie Has Been Raising the Bar When It Comes to Food Experiences in Shreveport-Bossier.
I knew where the restaurant was because it caught my eye while I was riding in the Highland Parade. It looked like the crew was having a fun patio party.
Fat Calf is located in the Highland community of Shreveport according to the Facebook page the team is led by Chef Anthony Felan.
Hey Chef Anthony, Your Crew is Doing it Right.
The first time I went to dinner there my dinner crew was running 12 people deep and we were just one of many parties there. It was a Thursday night and the place was packed. The staff was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Which I always love to see, it means that the Chef is letting the staff try the magic in the kitchen and also helping them pair it with a cocktail or wine.
Obviously, this place is far from a secret, however, it is kind of hidden in plain sight. Located on the corner of Kings and Creswell I assume this restaurant may have once been a house.
We Ordered All the Things at Fat Calf.
The Brasserie Burger was perfection. Yes, I ordered a burger, only because some friends claimed it was the best in town.
Don't skip out on those crispy brussels sprouts. Those are roasted to absolute perfection.
One of the best charcuterie plates in town.
If you're down with bone marrow, try this. It's good.
The Beef Bourguignon en Croûte was delicious, who doesn't love a little red wine braised short-rib? I loved the puff pastry cloche as well. Very well done.
It's the Best Pork Belly I Have Ever Had.
Five-Spice Pork Belly "Burnt Ends"
Since I can't describe this as a "party un in your mouth" just know you have a delicious scallion pancake under all that wonderful goodness.
I would recommend getting a reservation at Fat Calf since it was pretty busy when I went. You won't be disappointed.
