It's no secret the ice storm wreaked havoc on many families in Shreveport-Bossier. Most of West Shreveport is still without water. No hot water means no hot meals for many families. One local church in Shreveport is stepping up to help.

Bishop L. Lawrence Brandon sent out a message to all his media partners telling them that they were on a mission to help feed as many students as possible. His email said, "Because of the tremendous impact this storm has had on families in our communities, the Northwest Louisiana Community Development will be providing FREE hot meals to youth grades K-12 for lunch and dinner."

Unfortunately, Caddo Parish will have to learn virtually until March 1st, this means so many students will have to go without warm meals. That's just not acceptable, that is heartbreaking.

Many families are still without basic needs because of the grocery stores being ravaged amid the winter storm. We can help, and luckily Bishop L. Lawrence Brandon has rallied his team, to step up and help.

The free meals will be distributed at Praise Temple Plaza (4725 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, LA) from Tuesday, February 23rd through Friday, February 26, 2021. The lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and dinner will be served from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Bishop L. Lawrence Brandon reminds us that the meals are "grab and go" and encourages us all to "please wear your mask".
