‘Girl Meets World’ Writers Contradict Rider Strong on Series Ending
Boy Meets World revival Girl Meets World garnered ample praise in its own right, though recent reports from franchise star Rider Strong seemingly confirmed that 2017 would end the series outright. Girl writers aren’t so quick to write things off, however, claiming “there is no official word as yet.”
Initially, waning viewership and a January 20 finale titled “Girl Meets Goodbye” tipped viewers off that Season 3 might be the last, followed by franchise star-director Rider Strong’s podcast assertion that “We finished the third season of Girl Meets World — my brother and I were directing a lot of episodes and I acted in a couple — and the show ended.”
Disney declined to comment on Strong’s words, though Girl Meets World writers were more than happy to cast a little doubt:
Perhaps tellingly, the January 20 finale features franchise alum Rider Strong (Shawn), William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Will Friedle (Eric), Anthony Tyler Quinn (Mr. Turner), William Russ (Alan), Betsy Randle (Amy), Lee Norris (Minkus), Danny McNulty (Harley), Lily Nicksay (Morgan No. 1) and Lindsay Ridgeway (Morgan No. 2).
Disney Channel has yet to affirm either way, but will Rider Strong end up right after all? Is Girl Meets World the end of the road?
