‘Girl Meets World’ Fans Fear Cancellation Amid ‘Boy Meets World’ Reunion
A Boy Meets World reunion has given TGIF fans something to smile about, but left fans of Girl Meets World concerned the Matthews family's journey might be over.
A good chunk of the cast of Boy Meets World, which aired its final episode 16 years ago, reunited on the set of Girl Meets World yesterday (July 28). The sister series, which follows now-married-couple Cory and Topanga and their daughter, Riley, was filming its Season 3 finale when cast member Uriah Justus shared a pic of the epic gathering on Instagram.
Justus plays Cory's much younger brother, Joshua, who was just a baby when Boy Meets World ended.
"Thanks guys. I'm going to miss you. It makes me incredibly proud to have been a part of something so special to so many people," he wrote with the photo.
Some of Justus' Instagram followers were left perturbed, unsure if his caption meant Joshua's arc on the show has ended — or, maybe, that the show has been canceled completely.
"we are all very upset about this happening. :(( Disney Channel is killing me," one wrote, while another noted "Girl Meets World has officially lost a viewer."
The Girl Meets World writers' Twitter account also fanned the flames of cancellation rumors with a pretty weighty message about a "decision." And show star Rowan Blachard did little to quell fears with a tweet in which she confessed she didn't know if the show would continue.
Included in the reunion — and joining Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel — were William Daniels (Mr. Feeny), Rider Strong (Shawn), Will Friedle (Eric), William Russ (Cory's dad, Alan), Betsy Randle (Cory's mom, Amy), Anthony Quinn (Mr. Turner), Lee Norris (Minkus) and Danny McNulty (school bully Harley). Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway, who both played Cory's younger sister, Morgan, also joined in.
The Disney Channel has yet to confirm or deny a Girl Meets World cancellation. What do you make of everything?
