Great Raft’s Beer Can Derby Benefiting Community Renewal is Today

Beer can cars and charity sounds like a winning combination!

Louisiana's Craft Beer Week is being taken to the next level by Great Raft Brewing. Today (September 24) is the Beer Can Derby benefiting Community Renewal International (CRI). Contestants will make race cars out of beer cans and they will race them down the track for fame and prizes. It's like Matchbox racing for adults.

Awards will be given for the fastest and fanciest cars.

The fun starts at 2 p.m. today and will go until 5 p.m. Entry fee is just $5 which will be donated to CRI to further their efforts to unite caring partners in the community to create an environment in which every child feels safe and loved. It's a neighborly concept that I like to compare to Mayberry.
