Storms Cause Problems on Some Local Roads

High water is causing problems for some drivers in Bossier City.

The Police Department is monitoring city streets for rising water. Barricades and high water signs have been placed at several locations in Bossier City that typically flood during periods of heavy rain.

Here's the latest from Bossier City officials:

Most roadways that were barricaded earlier today are now clear. Barricades remain in place on Hamilton Road under railroad overpass between Green Street and Cox Street also remains barricaded due to high water.

In Bossier Parish, a small section at the 1100 block of Winfield Road (just east of Coastal Drive) in the Haughton area was closed due to standing water. Also, water has topped a portion of Old Plain Dealing Rd.

One problem is being reported in Shreveport. Public Works Director Mike Wood tells KEEL News there is some high water at Kingston Road at South Brookwood. But crews are out monitoring streets across the city.

If you are in need of sandbags, here's where you can get them:

Bossier City will have sandbags available for Bossier City residents from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the city’s Public Service Complex, 3223 Old Shed Road.

Shreveport will also have sand bags available at the public works facility on Mansfield Road from 8am until 4pm. There is a limit of 20 bags per person.

Caddo Parish will also have sandbags available from 8am until 3:30pm at 1701 Monty Street. There is a limit of 25 per person.

In Bossier Parish, sandbags can be picked up daily from 8 am. to 3:30 p.m at the Highway Department Maintenance building on 410 in Benton.
