How the Ark-La-Tex Stacks Up in Fast Food Restaurants Per Capita

We love to eat in the south, but surprisingly we are not the kings and queens of fast food locations.

We've all been there, right? You're in the middle of a long road trip when the hunger hits. Suddenly you've got to eat. Unfortunately, this feeling typically hits during that lengthy stretch of highway where there is nothing on the side of the road to grab and go.

It's the worst!

As it turns out, there are some states that are better equipped for situations like these simply because they have more fast food restaurants per Capita. Thrillist recently took a look at these numbers are were able to determine which states have the more fast food joints per 10,000 people. The central part of the United States, by far, hosts more of these restaurants than the rest of the nation.

However, the south is not far behind.

The Ark-La-Tex averages about 4.4 fast food restaurants per 10,000 people (just behind the central region at 4.5). Thrillist even broke down the numbers for each individual state. Arkansas came in at number 14 with 4.7, Louisiana landed at number 20 with 4.4, with Texas nipping at their heels at number 21 with 4.3.

As far as which restaurants have the most locations. Subway reigns supreme. The sandwich king is followed by McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut. Which fast food restaurant is your favorite?
