Election workers are ready to go as we make decisions in the runoff election.Turnout today is the critical issue for most candidates. But morning rains could keep some voters sitting on the sidelines

Democratic U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu has traveled the state over the past two days trying to play catch-up. She's trailing in the polls to her Republican challenger, Congressman Bill Cassidy.Recent polls show Cassidy with a 15 point lead.

Locally, the race for Mayor of Shreveport is the hottest contest. Former Caddo Schools Superintendent Ollie Tyler faces teacher Victoria Provenza.

Tyler won 44 percent of the votes in the November 4 election, while Provenza got 26 percent.

There are also City Council in districts A, B and E and school board races

And there's a hotly contested race for Shreveport City Marshall, with Democrat Charlie Caldwell facing off against Republican challenger Jim Taliaferro.  

Polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.
