Woman Reports Seeing Bigfoot in Calcasieu Parish (Louisiana)
Lake Charles, Louisiana - A new report has some people in Southwest Louisiana talking about a possible Bigfoot sighting near Westlake.
People all around the world have been searching for Bigfoot for many years. From the forests of the Pacific Northwest in the United States to remote areas in Canada and even parts of Asia, people continue to report sightings of large, hairy creatures.
Some believe Bigfoot is a real animal that has not yet been discovered, while others think it is just a legend or myth. There are even groups like the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization that study these reports and investigate possible sightings.

A Possible Bigfoot Sighting Near Westlake
The report was filed in April 2026 by a woman who lives about three miles north of Westlake in Calcasieu Parish. She says she saw a large, dark creature while working outside near her home.
According to the report, the woman was moving hay bales near a canal behind her house around 8 p.m. It was just starting to get dark. As she walked down a path near the water, she said she saw something big standing near a tree.
She described the figure as very tall and covered in dark hair. She says it quickly ran away through thick brush and trees. The woman said she could hear it crashing through vines and plants as it moved.
What stood out most to her was how the creature moved. She said it was walking on two legs, not four like a deer or hog. She also said it crossed through about waist-deep water, but it moved through it very easily.
The woman says she has lived in the area for many years and knows the sounds animals make in the swamp. She believes this was something different.
She also shared that her pets had been acting strange in the days before the sighting. She said her dogs stayed close to the house and did not want to go near the trees. Some neighbors also noticed their animals acting nervously.

Expert Matthew Moneymaker Weighs In on the Report
The sighting was later reviewed by Matthew Moneymaker, founder of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. He spoke with the witness and said she seemed credible.
He noted that the creature was much taller than a deer and appeared to move quickly through the swamp. He also said areas like this, with water and thick woods, are often where these types of sightings are reported.
Unfortunately, there are no photos or videos from the sighting, and no other witnesses have come forward. The report remains unconfirmed.
Here are photos that were shared of the location from the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization...
