Haughton Traffic Alert: LA 3227 Reconstruction Begins June 2
In January of this year, Haughton, LA was relieved to see that Phase 1 of the LA 3227 at LA 157 realignment project was complete.

It was also at this time that the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development reminded residents of the area that Phase 2 of this project was coming and that time is now.
In the most recent advisement regarding this project, the LADOTD has announced the intent to reconstruct this section of LA 3227 near its intersection with LA 157 in Haughton to facilitate economic development and improved traffic flow through the growing area.
Work On Phase 2 Of The LA 3227 Project Will Begin On Monday, June 2
This intensive work is scheduled to begin this coming Monday, June 2, with intermittent lane closures going into place.
The $6.5 million project involves building LA 3227 on a new alignment, where it will connect with LA 157 just south of its current intersection. The current traffic signal will also be moved to the new LA 3227/LA 157 intersection.
Additionally, the current LA 3227 westbound approach to LA 157 will become right in-right out only. Those wishing to turn south on LA 157 from LA 3227 will need to come to the new intersection with the traffic signal.
The purpose of this project is to assist in providing an infrastructure framework for continued residential and economic development in the growing community of Haughton, particularly in the vicinity of this intersection.
LA DOTD Says This Work Will Ultimately Bring Relief To Thousands Of Drivers
With over 15,000 motorists utilizing LA 157 and more than 6,600 traveling LA 3227 on average each day, this re-structuring of the intersection is an important proactive investment in the state’s transportation system.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in early 2026, weather and other factors permitting.
