Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has officially initiated formal legal proceedings against the prominent rapper known professionally as Boosie Badazz, over promotion of a 2025 concert. The state's legal action centers specifically around false advertising allegations, that stem from the digital and physical marketing materials distributed for his 2025 'Boosie Bash' music festival.

State officials are accusing the Louisiana rapper, whose legal name is Torence Hatch Jr., and his management team of not responding to their initial questions over a concert event held on the Southern University campus. The primary focus of the investigation surrounds the unauthorized commercial use of a recently deceased college student's identity. Because the rapper's team did not respond to their initial questioning, state investigators are now asking a judge to step in.

The Tragic Loss Of Caleb Wilson

Caleb Wilson was a remarkably talented, and widely beloved, Southern University student. He proudly performed as a dedicated member of the renowned 'Human Jukebox' marching band of Southern University.

Wilson, a 20-year-old student, tragically lost his life following an off campus hazing incident associated with the Omega Psi Phi fraternity. Investigators say Wilson died after being punched in the chest as part of the hazing.

The senseless death sent massive emotional shockwaves through the entire university campus, and community, while prompting loud demands for hazing restrictions. Multiple law enforcement agencies quickly opened criminal investigations into the fatal off campus fraternity hazing ritual.

Boosie Bash Festival Scholarship Claims

In the immediate wake of the horrific campus tragedy, Boosie started promoting the creation of a memorial scholarship bearing the fallen student's name. The family of Caleb Wilson immediately objected to the rapper's use of their son's name.
