
Shreveport Community Shaken as Police Respond to Deadly Shooting
Shreveport police responded to several calls about gun shots in the Highland neighborhood on Monday night. The calls came in at about 11:30 p.m..
When Shreveport patrol officers pulled up onto the scene at Egan Street and Gilbert Street they found a car with several bullet holes. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered 55-year-old Gerald Damon Washington, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
The officers pulled Washington from the car and started life-saving efforts. But despite this quick action, Washington did not survive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives began fanning out in the neighborhood to gather clues and any evidence in this case. Based on the information gathered at the scene, officers were able to identify a suspect.
27-year-old Eric Sullivan Jr. was named as the alleged gunman. He was arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
No word yet on any possible motive in this killing.
The killing of Gerald Damon Washington is the 30th homicide this year in Shreveport and is the 35th in Caddo Parish for 2025.
