Shreveport Woman Arrested for Neglect in Roach Infested Apartment
Shreveport Police got a call over the weekend to a domestic disturbance at the Village Square Apartments, and discovered a house of horrors!
When Officers arrived to the apartment, they found out that the dispute was over a PlayStation. While Police were investigating the fight, they noticed that the apartment was unsanitary and unsafe for the children that were living there, and Youth Services investigators were called in to inspect.
Once investigators were inside the apartment, they found 3 children ages 4, 3, and 1 living with their mother Cavinitri White. Investigators reported that the apartment was completely infested with cockroaches. The infestation could be seen on nearly every surface of the apartment, including furniture, kitchen cabinets, and inside the refrigerator. Roaches could also be seen coming out of holes in the wall. The health and safety of the apartment was completely compromised.
The conditions were completely unlivable, so the Department of Children and Family Services was contacted, and the children were released in to the custody of their father.
White was arrested and transported to the Shreveport City Jail where she was charges with 3 counts of neglect of family.
The investigation is ongoing.
