A newly released batch of documents tied to Jeffrey Epstein has a surprising Louisiana reference: Shreveport.

According to a report from The Advocate, an email dated May 2017 shows Kathryn Ruemmler writing that she was “just leaving Shreveport” in the early morning hours, calling the city “a dump” in the message.

Why this email is resurfacing now

The line is going viral because it appears in a new Justice Department release tied to the Epstein records. The U.S. Department of Justice says it has published millions of pages in compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The broader release has drawn national attention and criticism, including concerns about heavy redactions and whether the public is seeing the full picture.

Who is Ruemmler

Ruemmler (pictured far left below) previously served as White House Counsel under Barack Obama and is now a top attorney at Goldman Sachs, according to national reporting on the recent document releases and related disclosures.

The internet’s reaction, Louisiana-style

On Facebook, the responses are equal parts joking, frustrated, and defensive. Some commenters leaned into the meme with lines like “Where is the lie?” Others joked that Shreveport made the Epstein files “before GTA 6.” And plenty asked the most obvious question: why was she in Shreveport at 4:38 a.m. in the first place?

Out of all of the hype, backlash, and passionate concern over the Epstein files, I did not have Shreveport showing up on my bingo card. Did you?
