The LSU-Shreveport Pilots were the talk of the baseball world last year. Baseball, as the old saying goes, is a game of failure. The best teams ever commit errors, the best hitters strike out, the best pitchers give up home runs...elite pitchers are considered elite if they give up 3 runs or less per start. In the game of baseball, perfection is darn near impossible.

However, that did not apply to the LSUS Pilots last season. They went a perfect 59-0 on their way to win a NAIA National Championship - the first in school history. They are the first undefeated team in the history of college baseball - at any level. It's crazy. Even crazier the stats that defined their season. Here's some of the highlights from last year:

  • .361 team batting average
  • Josh Gibson hit a team leading .436 and was one of 3 players hitting over .400
  • 666 runs score for the season
  • 76 home runs
  • .493 team on base per percentage
  • 2.38 team ERA
  • Isaac Rohde lead the NAIA with 146 strikeouts with 2.09 ERA
  • .192 opponent batting average
  • 14 shutouts on the season
  • 8 wins of 15+ runs

I tell you all that to tell you this - The Pilots aren't done just yet. Not even close.

The LSUS Pilots Remain Perfect in 2026

Winning streaks, no matter how impressive, eventually end. It's the nature of all streaks. However, LSU-Shreveport is starting their year off strong by staying perfect in 2026. We're very early in the season, but so far the Pilots are 6-0 on the seasons - which extends their win streak to 65 consecutive games.

To put that in perspective, the LSUS Pilots have not lost a game since May 16, 2024! What they are accomplishing isn't just rare...it's unheard of. Here are the only streaks that even compare to what LSUS is doing right now:

  • The Oklahoma Softball team won 71 straight games between 2023 and 2024
  • Butler Community College Softball won 88 straight games between 2016 and 2017
  • UConn women's basketball had numerous hot streaks of 70, 90, and 111 consecutive wins

You may be thinking - none of those have anything to do with baseball. Yes, because like I said at the very top, baseball is a game of failure. These types of streaks just don't happen. LSUS broke the college record set by Savannah State of 46 straight wins. At the minor league level, the record for consecutive wins is 29. In the MLB, the longest win streak is 26 games.

What LSU Shreveport is doing right now puts them into a league of their own. It doesn't exist anywhere else at any level of baseball. This is rarefied air.
