Crowley, LA (KPEL News) - Louisiana is fortunate to have dedicated and capable law enforcement, but they will all tell you that crimes don't get solved in an hour like they do on TV. We work closely with departments around south Louisiana. Whether it's State Police, St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, or Lafayette Police, every member of their squads are intent on getting criminals off the streets.

Collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and even identifying a suspect takes time. If they catch a break, a bad guy (or gal) can be locked up within hours. When the evidence and information are sparse, it can take longer. In some cases, years. That's what they call a "cold case."

According to Merriam-Webster, a cold case is:

... an unsolved criminal investigation (as of a homicide or abduction) that has stopped being actively pursued because of a lack of evidence.

That's what's happening with a 6-year-old murder in Crowley, and they are hoping someone will help change that.

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish is hoping someone has new information about a murder on July 21, 2018.

Malcolm Daniels was shot outside a home in the 1800 block of JD Miller Street in Crowley in the Bobby Smith Subdivision. He was outside playing dice with several other people when he was struck by a bullet. Daniels was taken to the hospital where he died.
