The Red River Revel is one of my favorite events in Shreveport. It's just great. Live music, cool art, great food ... there's just a little something for everyone. Me and my girls have a great time every year. This year's Revel runs September 28th through October 6th in Shreveport's Festival Plaza.

But this year, the Revel is going to be super special. Because on top of an already great event, the U.S. Army is adding in some extra awesomeness. Not only are they going to have a booth set up with all sorts of fun gadgets to check out, but the U.S. Army's band As You Were is going to be performing!

When I think about an "Army Band", I think about a bunch of guys in uniform blowing horns and singing like a barber shop quartet. That's not what the As You Were band is. As You Were, the Army's musical outreach team, is a pop/rock band that plays current hits and original tunes. And these guys just straight up knock it out the park! You can check out one of their songs below.

As You Were isn't just unique because they're a bunch of Army guys playing cool music. The band tells the U.S. Army story through a live music performance. Which is kinda awesome. Their mission is to teach everyone that there are a lot of unexpected ways you can serve the country. If you or someone you know might be interested in a career with the U.S. Army, click here for more information.

As You Were will be playing on the Main stage at the Revel at 5 p.m. Saturday, September 28th.

On top of the great tunes, the Army will have a booth set up September 28th through the 30th. And this year, they're pulling out all the stops! At the booth, they're going to have an EOD bomb disposal robot, career navigator, a night vision interactive exhibit, a weapon simulator and all kinds of other awesome displays and interactive experiences.

Here are my top 5 reasons you should visit the US Army at the Revel:

So, make sure you swing by the Revel and see everything the US Army has going on! Great band, cool exhibits ... and if you're interested, you can always get more details about how you can serve.
