In news that might make you go “Uhh…,” John Turturro is reportedly filming a secret spinoff to The Big Lebowski. Turturro is said to be shooting the new film, which is based on his salacious Jesus Quintana character from the Coens’ cult classic, under a misleading production title in New York. The only thing more surprising than this movie is its bizarre plot.

Turturro is currently shooting a movie titled Going Places, which many believed to be a remake of the 1974 French film Les Valseuses. But according to a report over at Birth.Movies.Death, the actor is actually filming a secret spinoff to The Big Lebowski, in which he reprises his role as Jesus Quintana. The project has an interesting mix of co-stars, including Bobby Cannavale, Audrey Tautou and Susan Sarandon, and no, the Coen brothers do not appear to be involved with this film whatsoever.

I’m not sure that anyone is clamoring for a Jesus Quintana movie, or any sort of sequel or prequel or spinoff to the Coens’ cult classic comedy, which is already perfect as is. All of this seems fairly surprising, but then you get to the plot, which is described as “Two petty thieves, Turturro’s Jesus and Cannavale’s Petey, compete to give a woman (Tautou) her first orgasm after she’s roped into their hijinks.” That sounds more like a Farrelly brothers movie than a Coen film. It could be funny, sure, but as of now it just seems kind of bizarre.

It’s not entirely shocking, however, as Turturro has been talking up a Jesus spinoff for years. In 2013, Ethan Cohen said that the actor was practically obsessed with the idea, and had already worked out the plot. Turturro told THR that he hoped to shoot the film in 2015, if he had the Coens’ blessing. As recently as June, the actor was still hopeful about making the movie happen — and now it looks like he has.

In other news, we still have no idea what’s going on with Turturro’s feet in The Night Of.
