If you travel far enough down Swan Lake Road in Bossier City, you'll eventually come across the notorious JuJu Road. Before the Civil War, this secluded area was a peaceful, quiet place, until it became the site of a brutal murder.

The story, passed down through generations, claims that a slave named JuJu was caught by his master with his daughter. In a fit of rage, the master dragged JuJu away and lynched him from a tree.

Locals consider this stretch of road to be one of the most intensely haunted places in all of Northwest Louisiana.

The Specter in the Moonlight

Those unlucky enough to find themselves on JuJu Road at night claim they have encountered the deceased slave. Some swear they see the shadow of his body swinging in the moonlight from that very tree.

Even more terrifying, others have encountered JuJu himself, freeing himself from the branch and wandering the road with the noose still around his neck.

The activity doesn't end with JuJu. Visitors also claim to see hooded figures with torches approaching the tree, a chilling reminder of the original violence that took place centuries ago.

The Curse of the Road: Listener Accounts

Here is what I've gathered from our listeners, a chilling collection of supposed paranormal phenomena that seems to affect more than just the spirit realm:

Physical and Mechanical Mayhem

You've been warned: don't shut your car off if you pull over! Multiple people report that vehicles struggle to turn back on when you need to get out of there ASAP. Even local farmers have reported bizarre mechanical issues: simple jobs like baling hay are often followed by a wave of breakdowns and mechanical failures that would not normally happen.

Ailing Visitors

Several listeners claim that if you visit the area after dark, you will become inexplicably ill over the next several days. The psychological toll is just as great, with some visitors being suddenly overcome by overwhelming panic attacks.

Electronic and Visual Disturbances

JuJu Road seems to mess with modern technology. Your phone will randomly lose reception, and any calls you try to make will mysteriously drop. But the most unsettling accounts are the sights: people who go out after midnight claim they can see the shadows of torches and several hooded people lingering in the darkness.

Shreveport and Bossier residents, have you ever been on JuJu Road? Share your experiences (or your reasons why you'd never go) in the comments.
