Don't look now, but Carnival Season is almost here! 12th Night, which officially kicks off the Mardi Gras season happens 12 days after Christmas. So, this year, Mardi Gras Season starts on January 3rd. And, of course, Mardi Gras season means all kinds of fun and festivities. The parades get all the headlines, but there's so much more - the 12th Night celebration, float loading parties, and of course, the amazing Bals.

If you've never been to a Mardi Gras Bal, you NEED to check one out. They are grand spectacles they you have to experience AT LEAST once in your life. There are multiple Krewes in the Shreveport-Bossier area that host bal events every year. The Krewe of Centaur website defines a bal as an event where:

"...scenes representing a specific theme are acted out for the entertainment of club members and their guests, Krewe royalty is traditionally presented during the bal."

One of, if not the, largest Bals in North Louisiana is the Krewe of Centaur Grand Bal. This year's Bal takes place at the Shreveport Convention Center January 24th, 2026. Tickets for the event WILL NOT be available at the door. So, if you want to attend, make your plans now.

Everything You Need to Know About the Centaur Bal

A lot of people think that the Krewe Bals are just for members of the Krewe. That's not true. The event is open to the public and anyone can attend. Tickets are $95 for kids and $150 for adults. Tickets for the Bal are already on-sale, you can buy them here.

The Krewe says this will be their biggest Bal yet with some major surprises and excitement for anyone that attends.

Highlights of the Krewe of Centaur Grand Bal XXXIV

NBA Hall of Famer and Shreveport native, Robert Parish, is scheduled to appear at the Grand Bal as the 2026 Grand Marshal. Known as "The Chief," Parish's appearance will serve as a celebration of legacy for one of the city’s greatest athletic legends, adding an extra layer of excitement to the already grand affair.
