Lance Bass Came Out to Britney Spears on Her Wedding Night to Make Her ‘Stop Crying’
Lance Bass opened up about the exact moment he came out to Britney Spears.
During an interview on Watch What Happens Live Monday (July 22), the former NSYNC member told Andy Cohen he came out to the pop star on the night of her Las Vegas wedding to Jason Alexander back in January 2004, which was two years before he publicly came out as gay. Bass explained that after her quickie wedding, which was fans know was annulled just days after, Spears was inconsolable so he decided to let her in on his secret.
"It was the night that she got married the first time in Vegas to Jason," the 43-year-old recalled. "So I went up to Vegas to kind of see the craziness that was happening. And she was a little upset once she realized what she had done because, you know, it was a funny thing."
"Then she started, like, really crying and, like, she was so upset," he continued. "And so I took her to her room and we were sitting on her bed and she wouldn't stop crying, so I was like, 'I'm gay. And it made her stop crying."
When Cohen asked Bass how Spears reacted to the news and whether she was “sweet and supportive,” the singer assured him that she was. “Yeah, she chuckled,” he said.
